How do I get help in case of emergency when I am overseas?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade does issue announcement on an emergency situation such as natural disaster, civil unrest or war. Please refer to our Press Releases and Announcement page for more information. In case of an emergency situation, the Brunei Mission overseas is responsible to assist. Therefore, it is important that Brunei citizens travelling or living abroad register with the nearest mission so that the missions are aware of Brunei citizens presence overseas. How do I apply for job in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Brunei Darussalam?
Applications for job in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade are handled by the Public Services Commission and the Public Services Department of the Prime Minister's Office, Brunei Darussalam. However the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade provides an On-line Recruitment Form available on the website for Brunei citizens. The on-line service does not guarantee job offers but please register online, if you wish to be notified should there be a recruitment exercise. From time to time, there are job vacancies available for Locally Engaged Staff at Brunei Missions overseas. These vacancies provide opportunities for Brunei citizens residing in the country where the Brunei Darussalam Mission is located. How do I apply to extend my course?
1) Submit a formal letter to request the extension to the Human Resource Department through your respective Head of Department. 2) Submit a supporting letter from the University. (Note: Application must be submitted 6 months before the end of course)

What do I do if I need to return to Brunei Darussalam in case of an Emergency?
1) Notify Third Secretary (Recruitment & Training) through email / telephone.
2) Notify your supervisor and request his/her permission.
3) Submit a formal letter to request permission.
4) Submit a supporting letter from the University. (Note: 1 & 2 Application must be submitted before returning to Brunei)

What do I do if I leave the UK during University holidays?
1) Submit a formal letter to inform us.
2) Submit a supporting letter from the University. (Note: Application must be submitted 2 weeks before departure)

What do I do if I need to leave the UK to perform field work.?
1) Submit a formal letter to request permission.
2) Submit a supporting letter from the University. (Note: Application must be submitted 3 months before departure)

What do I do if I need to leave the UK for a conference?
1) Submit a formal letter to request permission.
2) Submit a supporting letter from the University. (Note: Application must be submitted 3 months before departure)

What shall I do when I arrive in UK to pursue my studies immediately?
1) Obtain the Sponsor letter for Tuition Fees from In-service Training Department
2) Obtain Sponsor letter to Open a Bank Account and open Bank account for you to receive your monthly allowances without delay
3) Find accommodation and if you need any financial support, request for advance rental. Provide In-service Training a letter or invoice from your letting agency/landlord showing the period and amount you need to pay. We will be able to pay the requested amount to your bank account.
4) You should give us the letter of consent to University
5) You should forward the Offer Letter from your university mentioning the period of study and the tuition fees 6) As soon as you open your bank account, fill the Borang Maklumat Peribadi and forward it to us together with the letter of consent. What other reimbursements can I apply for? (Payments will be made upon JPA instructions) 1) Field Trip 2) Additional Courses 3) Study Programmes 4) Extension of Scholarship – (should apply for before 3 months)

When will I receive my monthly allowances?
Every First week of the month you will receive your monthly allowances. It will be credited to your bank account once we receive the bank details.

How do I apply for Advance Rental?
You need to provide the original invoice/letter from the land lord or the estate agent showing the duration and amount you need to pay for your accommodation. We will then pay the amount to your account and will deduct equal instalments from your monthly allowances.

If I receive email or letter requesting to pay my tuition fees?
Please provide the letter we have given to you on arrival (sponsor letter) to your university. Or inform the Inservice Training Department’s address /email to forward the invoice.

Can I ask for medical/dental reimbursements?
You are entitled for NHS Medical/dental treatments. Please send the original receipt with a letter requesting for reimbursement, address to The Third Secretary (Recruitment and Training) and the payment will be processed and will be credited to your bank account.

When will I receive my Books Allowance?
Yearly, if you are a full Scholarship Candidate

Am I entitle for Clothing Allowance?
Once in every three years.

How can I claim for Dissertation Allowance?
You need to send a bound copy of your dissertation and a letter requesting for dissertation allowance.
